PAINT or DIE Paint Tool

The paint tool is the Hider’s primary interface during prep. It translates surface color onto your avatar. Controls are fewer than MECHA CHAMELEON on Steam—expect streamlined sampling rather than full HSV sliders—but timing and surface choice still decide outcomes.

Recommended paint flow

Pick your hide location first, then sample the exact plane you will face—not a similar color three meters away. Apply a full coat to visible limbs facing the Seeker approach angle. Repaint only if you change spots; mid-hunt repainting usually means you already lost.

Practice in private or low-stakes lobbies until sampling plus freeze fits inside the prep timer with ten seconds to spare.

Common paint control mistakes

Sampling the floor then hiding on a wall. Painting before choosing freeze orientation, leaving elbows or feet unpainted. Double-tapping paint and wasting prep time on perfect art when a rough match would survive.
